World Tai Chi & Qigong Day

10:00am Saturday April 24, 2004--worldwide

Change the world with us!

WHAT IS WORLD TAI CHI & QIGONG DAY?!

On April 24th, at 10 am, beginning in the Earth's earliest time zone, a peaceful soothing event will unfold, and change the world forever, as it blooms around the Earth throughout the entire daytime zone by time zone. Gently and effortlessly the world will breathe together in a Tai Chi & Qigong relay of calm. We have all experienced the soothing calm of witnessing others doing Tai Chi or Qigong and on World Tai Chi & Qigong Day the entire planet will have that opportunity.

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day will be held on the Saturday immediately following the United Nation's World Health Day, and will entail Tai Chi & Qigong groups around the world gathering at 10 am (each city's local time) on April _, (See top of page for date) to exhibit Tai Chi & Qigong to the world in mass gatherings in public parks or the lawns of public buildings, so as to be visible to the community and media.

There are 4 purposes for staging this historic event.

  1. To educate the world to the profound implications Tai Chi & Qigong can offer our personal, social and world health.
  2. To thank Chinese culture for providing this powerful health science to the world.
  3. To improve world relations by joining Tai Chi & Qigong practitioners around the world on this World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, to promote and celebrate a healthier world.
  4. To provide a mighty example of how the emerging power of the Internet can be used to promote world cooperation and health, since most of the organizing of this event is done via the Internet through our web page www.worldtaichiday.org. Tai Chi & Qigong is about personal empowerment and the internet is a powerful enabler.

(Right now, your first priority is to please start contacting every Tai Chi or Qigong person, group, school, organization locally, nationally and around the world, to ask them to A) support and endorse World Tai Chi & Qigong Day by officially adding their groups name to our co-sponsor list by emailing us through this Web page (this entails no monetary commitment) B) show their support by in turn contacting every Tai Chi or Qigong entity they can to do the same. Then begin using the following kit, to organize your Local World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Event.)

Dear World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters,

World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day approaches, April 24th, and we have GREAT NEWS!!

We are now up to 959 events in nearly 60 nations, scheduled for World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day 2004.  World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day 2004 is gaining publicity and allies worldwide already for this years enormous world event.

Tai Chi for Arthritis due to the work of Dr. Paul Lam will be held in
conjunction with World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day, and we are honored and excited for this to happen.  In fact CNN News did a very long and wonderful news feature on Tai Chi health benefits and referred to Dr. Lam's work with arthritis.

This year there have been articles about judges using Tai Chi for anger management rather than jailing offenders, added to past articles of Tai Chi's benefit for children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), and other breaking studies showing Tai Chi's gentle forms provide roughly the same cardiovascular benefit as moderate impact aerobics, yet Tai Chi is perhaps the lowest impact exercise known.  It has been a VERY good year for Tai Chi, and that means a very
good year for world health.  Our goal as teachers and as World Tai Chi & Qigong Day is to expand health and wellness throughout our world.

Also, World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day was mentioned in the Jan. 2004 Reader's Digest (Asia and possibly other versions), and Awareness Magazine in California did an article in their current issue, and we had TWO articles published on World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day in Russian newspapers.  The Jan. Reader's Digest (Asia) had a wonderful in depth article about Tai Chi's many health and life
benefits.

We urge you all to contact your local, regional, and national media about this upcoming world event and about your local participation in it.  Please ask them to list www.worldtaichiday.org in the article so local people can find your listing and contact information there after reading the article.

At www.worldtaichiday.org there are suggestions on how to write your own articles and also how to contact local media.  One of the many free services and features we provide, as well as medical research on Tai Chi that you can provide to the media and use in articles.

Thank you all so much for your work to share the magic of Tai Chi & Qigong with the world, and for your ongoing support of our efforts to provide you with tools and resources.

PLEASE contact every tai chi or qigong enthusiast you know worldwide and urge them to hold a celebration in their school and city for World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day 2004.  Also, please post noticed of WTCQD 2004 on bulletin boards, and chat groups, and on your websites link www.worldtaichiday.org . . . our goal is to break the 1,000 mark and have ONE THOUSAND events on April 24th, 2004 for World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day.

Lastly, some tai chi or qigong schools on our email list, still have not
"listed" their schools in the www.worldtaichiday.org search mechanism.  Please, go to www.worldtaichiday.org and click "search for schools/events" and be sure your school info is listed and that the information is updated.

Warm regards,

Bill Douglas, World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day Founder, www.worldtaichiday.org
