EXERCISE #8
Exercise #8 is performed lying down.
1. Lie down on your back with your knees bent or straight, and hold the ruler over the lower dantien.
2. Then slowly turn the right end of the ruler 45 degrees up from the line across your body (parallel to your waist line) so that the right hand is at your lowest rib on the right side and your left hand is down by the left hip bone. Take one deep breath.
3. Now turn the ruler 90 degrees in the other direction so that the left hand holding the ruler is at your lowest rib on the left side and the right hand is down by the right hip bone. Take one deep breath.
4. Return the ruler to the lower dantien. Close the eyes. Raise the ruler along the body up to eye level and continue rolling the ruler outward (upward) away from the body and back down to the lower dantien. Do eight complete cycles of this exercise. After the eighth repetition, bring the ruler to rest on the lower dantien, and complete one deep cleansing breath.
This completes the eight advanced exercises of the Tai Chi Golden Ruler.
